I am working on a house addition. I drew the as built of the house and made copies for demoliton and proposed. I created the most common phases (existing, demolished and proposed). I want to create a second floor which means part  of the roof is going to be demolish, however the roof is a single entity and when I use the demolish tool the entire roof is demolish. In the demolish plan view I tried to break the roof in parts but then it affects the existing and proposed. How do I show the part of the roof that I want to demolish and keep the rest of the existing roof intact so in the existing plan view the roof will still show as a whole like when I first drew it?

Split the roof as you have done, both as 'Phase created - existing'.

The first part - Demolished - none, The second part - Demolished - new construction.

Set the phase in view properties of the existing phase as 'New construction' and the phase filter as 'Show previous + Demo'.

Also look at the 'Phases' under settings to see the options and the different ways that these can be controlled.

tim123,

I am still haveing trouble with phasing. I tried playing with "phase" under settings. And selecting different options in the vp for phase created and phase filters with no avail.

I am attaching images so you can see what is that I'm trying to accomplish here. Basically I want to demolish part of the existing roof (see image "phasing 1"Winking to create a level 2 with out having to split the existing roof becasue when I split it the shape of the roof becomes different.

I feel like I have basically two options:

1-is to demolish the entire roof see image "phasing 2". I don't want to show the entire roof demolished on my printed sheet. So this is no good.

2- breaking the roof changes the existing shape see image "phasing 4" and "5".

Any ideas on how to accomplish my goal. thanks for your time.

N
