I am trying to have my handrails and stringers connect with each other smoothly in a custom stair set. If you see the attached image you will see what I mean when you look at how my handrails connect with each other at different portions of the curved stair some parts of the handrail seem stepped up slightly from the conneting portion of the handrail.  Also the image with monolithic stair set selected I cannot have the underside of the winder show up smooth even when I select that option in the stair properties.

I am going to try modelling these stairs in 3 parts.  The 2 straight runs and then the curved portion, perhaps this will solve some problems but I do not think this is the correct way to do these stairs.

Thanks for any help,

 Nate

I would model the stairs in three parts.

It would appear from your post that the side walls to the stairs are stringers.  Rather do them as rails, the bottom rail being a wall.  You can then use a similar rail for the landings.  You will have more control over how they interact.
