i want to learn about DWG importing of lines but i don't know where or how to begin with that.. i have imported a DWG office building project and i see fragments scattered across the universe.. in visability graphics i turn off all the layers and look at them one at a time.. it's nothing but broken bits and pieces of space junk separated by great distances on every layer.. yes some of the layers are obvious parts of the project- but this is insane.. where or how do i begin to understand this mess?

It may be your units - check the units in AutoCAD are set to something and that you do not import with 'unitless' in Revit.

thanks tim- "check the units in AutoCAD" revit is all i know.. i've been learning revit for three years (slowly).. learning autoCAD for me would be like sleeping with a dead rat.. but i need the lines.. i like SketchUp lines- but lines are lines and i need the DWG lines too.. i know i'm not asking any proper questions here- but i knew the day would come when i would have to face the dreaded DWG.. if there is anything you can tell me about bringing these lines in and using them i would appreciate it.. thanks..

Thanks for that - yeah it was rendered with accurender and I'm sure it would look better using mentalray. With regard to the AutoCAD, no reason to learn this if you don't have to, but if you can open it in AutoCAD, go to units and check that the drawing has some units set in (it's in the Format menu, or just type UN, enter). Import into Revit using the same units. Alternatively attach the drawing to a post and I will see if I can open it in Revit.
