I am trying to get the number of windows to vary depending on the width of the door. I am stumped on how formulas really work. Sometimes they work great for me and other time like when i have edited someone elses family. Things just don't seem to work. Could someone look and see if they can figure out what i am doing wrong so i can try and learn this. I seem to be getting asked to do a lot of families lately.

You need a formula parameter for the number of windows, such as length / spacing.

Well that i know, but if you flex the family that does not work try that with the 12' Wide door. Trying to get this family built so we can use it in future. Which is what i think famalies are for. I can't get the array to stay within the area of the door once it gets smaller

I have created a similar one which may help you (I had to do it in metric 'cos I can't get my head round the imperial stuff). It has an invisible line in the middle of the window which I used to create the array. Once I created the array I aligned and locked it to the reference lines that I set up. Hope this helps.

That is perfect. Thank you very much for the help. I was having such trouble getting it to work right. I guess i still need to build more famalies and figure out all the little things that make them work. Thanks again

No trouble - arrays in families can be tricky. Just need to make sure you lock the start and end points.
