So I'm brand new at Revit 2009 and have basically learned via hours and hours of trial and error. Amoungst a million other questions, one is really bugging me... I'm building a grocery store and trying to place model text on the storefront sign that I created using curved walls, (lots of off-setting, modifying, openings later) and for some reason it won't let me place the text there. Not knowing much about how to build things and modify stuff, I used walls to create a LOT of my "components" inside and it looks pretty good but... oh I dunno. Anyways, if anyone can help that'd be great.

Also, I don't know much about the rendering aspect of Revit... coming from just knowing CAD I think the 3D views are pretty cool but is it only in Rendering that I see all of the textures because I feel like I go in and change the render appearence to something really cool and it still looks the same in 3D...

One more question: I really wanted to have a cool suspended ceiling; I researched some that were suspended and wavy metal "strips" that allowed lights above the somewhat shine through. (I attatched a pic below, if I did that right even). Any tips on how to create this look?  Thanks everyone!

Keep going - the more you practice the better you will become.

Curved model text - you cannot do this.  Your options are to use a decal and place an image of the text on your curved wall or create a single letter and attach it to a reference plane and copy and rotate the individual reference planes (or array) and edit each letter.  If the wall is only slightly curved you can cut the model text with a curved void.

To get the rendering right takes experimenting with the different settings to see what happens - keep trying.  To get the 3D view to display the material changese make sure the 'Use render appearance for shading' box is checked - see image.

The ceiling you show is possible.  Click on Component, create in place, use the ceiling category and use extrusions and sweeps to create it.  You may want to try some of the family creation tutorials if you are not familiar with the modelling.
