I have exported my drawings from Revit to CAD 06.  I had to translate the files using a Layer Translator file in CAD.  However, my penstyles no longer show a difference in thickness despite the use of a .ctb file.  Is there a setting in Revit that i'm missing?

 Thanks.

You can do it from the Revit side by using the Import / Export settings.  In your situation can you not just change the ctb file for printing?

You missed my previous post on this problem.  I have set used the Import/Export Settings to create my own .txt file.  However, when I export, Revit adds an extension "-NEWW" or "-EXST" to the end of each of my layers.  This completely voids the settings I placed on each of those layers affected.  Furthermore, the Imort/Export Settings (as much as I can see) only let you change the color of the layer - not the thickness of the line.  So when i export to CAD, I have to use a Layer Translator file to get everything on the correct layers and colors.  Note that the layers are particular because they are required by the client's standards for submission.  Also, they .ctb file is directly from the client (and is used office-wide), so it isn't possible to just start changing it.

 Any other ideas?

Under File/Export/Cad file in the export option the first drop box is an option the keep all line styles per category, layer, or layer with changes.   Keep this setting on by layer only.   That should fix the problem with the NEW layers showing up.

I don't think there is a fix for the translation.  We have to do this as well.  None of the lines seem to come out with a pattern.  Our worst proble is our client like to differentiate between interior and exterior walls in cad.  Revit views them as on and exports them as such.

Good luck.  One day all owners will realize cad is gone and not make us do this.  I have a feeling that is years away.
