I am a Newbie to Revit MEP 2009 and hating every minute of it. That said, I have linked in an Architects Revit plan into my new project. When I try to place a piece of equipment like a sink or thermostat on a wall it wont let me do it. If the wall was drawn on the actual sheet it has no probelms. What am I doing wrong? KHeinz

If your elements are hosted, then the host (or a copy of it) has to reside in your model. Copy monitot the wall and your items will then work.

Clarification: You can host to the face of a linked .rvt file, but not to the actual family within the linked file, ie. walls, ceilings, etc. Change your fixture to be a face based family or, as mentioned previously, copy/monitor the elements you need to use as hosts.
