what does the attached graphic representation mean?

opened up baluster family to edit materials. selected balusters resulting in some additional info graphic info was revealed.

Not quite sure what you mean. If you're talking about the void parts, they are used to control the angle when the railing is sloping, such as for a ramp or stair.
