The building I'm designing at the moment has a red brick exterior but there are 3 bay windows and underneath these windows I want the brick face rendered (sand and cement style).

I have worked out so far how to do a pattern fill by going into draughting etc, and using the filled pattern option, but this only shows my pattern when in one of my elevation views. If I click 3d view, my pattern doesn't show.

What do I need to do to see the pattern I have created in 3d view also?

 Many thanks

did you add your pattern to the surface pattern of the material?

It may just be the angle.  When the viewing angle is too acute Revit does not show the pattern.

[QUOTE: did you add your pattern to the surface pattern of the material?]

Not sure how to add pattern to surface material! Is there anything specific I need to do here?

Tried looking at my model in different angles in 3d mode etc but it still doesn't show my fill.

Thanks for anymore help on this.

Hey well when you add pattern to the material go to 3D view and turn on "Shading with Edges" or "Hidden Line" view mode and i thing you won't have any problems.

And you can add surface pattern in Settings/Materials, find the exact one and in the "Surface Pattern" add what you wish.

There are two patterns in REVIT.  2D patterns - drafting - that will show in any 2d view but are view and 3d patterns - model.  Read up on these in your help and you will learn when to use them.

Still must be doing something wrong. I went into 3d mode and I already had shading with edges turned on. Also tried 'hidden line' but still, the fill pattern I have that shows in South elevation view does not show in 3d view.

But, I went into settings > materials > render - beige smooth > render appearance, and I love this stucco type finish that I have just seen. This is better than the colour fill that I was initially trying to do.

Now, how do I take that material I just mentioned and apply it to underneath my bay windows as mentioned in my original post. This would be fantastic if I could get this finish on my model.

I have no idea how to go about this so please can you describe the prosess to in simple terms.

I want to be able to see the pattern in 3d view.

Many thanks for these replies so far by the way.

You need a different type of wall beneath the window.  Split the face and use the paint bucket tool to apply that material or create a different wall beneath the window with the correct finish incorporating that material as the finish.
