I have a project I am currently designing and there are several areas with large mechanical truck lines that I would like to put into my model so I can keep track of them.  Can I do this?

I would recomend in-place families:

1.  Under the Modelling tab, select the 'Create...' button.

2.  Click on the 'Show categories from all disciplines' checkbox

3.  Use a category of your choice; Air terminals, Generic Model, etc.

Extrusions-based geometry should do just well.  If you don't know what to do next let me know.

hhwse,

Make line-based generic model families with reqiured profiles and parameterise them for length, depth and width/radius. You can then use these for the ducting. You may have to use connectors, because I have found that the line-based families don't curve well. I am using Revit Architecture 2009 for making the entire Mechanical ducting for a 53,000 SF school building. Maybe the organisation would buy Revit MEP after this.

Radhika.
