We have a number of jobs with columns that change steel sizes from floor to floor. I would like to make it a one piece object that has a single parameter to woork into scheduling of the columns. My first thought was a model group, but Revit detaches this from the gridlines. How do you manage this situation?

I'm not sure Revit will allow multiple reference levels within a single column family...seems like you are asking a cat to do a dog-trick. I guess I don't understand the end objective either...Are you using Revit's column schedules to update your model and vice-versa? If I understand correctly, you will be able to tell Revit to splice a column at a given distance above level 'x' with a new column size to level 'y'. I don't use the Revit schedules, so I can't say it's possible or not. I'd sure like to know though. Anyone? Bump.
