I am trying to create a universal baseplate for steel columns.  I have created a extrusion and voids to create a plate with holes.  I had locked all the diminsions to be instance type parameters so the length width and thickness is controled by the user.  Now I need the holes to be spaced accordingly and sized for anchorbolts.  BUT, I can not get the void circles to lock to any reference plane!

Now I am stuck because the holes will not move with any parameters and sets still where ever I placed them in the family editor.

Someone please help!  I am trying a new field in REVIT in which steel detailing can be accomplished.  This will not only improve my acuracy but also maybe a way to make some extra dough.

Thanks.

Draw a reference planes and then create your void extrusion using the ref planes as a setout point for your void extrusion.  The holes should move with the ref planes.

Thanks Tim!  I have just finished my little project and had uploaded it into the gallery.  It is called "column with base plate and cap plate" (how original). Check it out.
