Parametric String Lights using adaptive components. Adjusting the U_VAL and V_VAL changes the placement of the inner spline point. Additional parameters include: light bulb count, ends offset, and fixture materials.

Placement seems to work best using vertical planes. If the fixture ends up facing the wrong direction - try setting the workplane to a vertical placement plane and rotating.

Note: Original Light Bulb family modified from Ryan Davis's upload. No earlier version available currently, possibly in the future. Sorry! :(

This is a family I created to for creating a dimension string that consists only of text.  It is a line based detail component (2 pick family) so placement is simple and the the text value is an instance parameter.  You could potentially add a family type parameter to allow you the ability to swap out the arrow head types also.

This lighting fixture is a model of the 52" Harbor Breeze ceiling fan.  The four lights can be individually turned on.  The fan blades are nested families and if you open one for editing, you'll be able to adjust the blade angle and length within reasonable bounds.  They are preset for the 52" model.
