This is an instance based parametric model of a rooftop ventilation hood with an associated roof curb. The model is roof hosted and remains vertical while the base of the curb follows the slope of the roof. There are 4 main parameters that you can adjust and are as follows:

1) Roof Pitch Numerator: You will need to type in and match the roof pitch of the roof you are placing the vent hood upon. For example, if the roof is a 6:12 pitch, enter 6".

2) Roof Opening Width and Roof Opening Depth: Specify the opening you need. The Depth is the dimension along the slope of the roof.

3) Roof Curb Minimum Height: This will be the minimum height you require at the shortest height of the curb on the slope.

Andersen windows, basic sweeps are based on standard Andersen detail for 200 series, which generally matches 400 series. All units use same shared nested families, so take care when creating schedules. Rough openings are set to match Andersen 2008 catalog, this may result in some minor discrepencies for actual Unit dimensions. Generally their catalog allows for an extra 1/2" for the rough opening. I provided type catalogs for the casements, got lazy on the awnings. A triple awning can be created by copying the triple casement and reloading the awning nested family (save out of another family). I think I fixed the issue with how the windows are located, they should all have a "Finish Depth" parameter.

Three grille options are included, none, Prarie A and Fractional. New grilles are easy, they are a nested family (not shared) that are placed in the nested window unit(s). You'll see a type parameter in the hosted windows that lets you control which grille option you're using, the type parameter is actually switching the nested window unit, not just the grille.

About the Revit Family

This is a parametric ‘CNC’ table. The following are adjustable:

• Top: rectangle or oval


• Top: width and height (make these equal for a round or square top)


• Top cross: sets the size of the cross in the top


• Leg height and width


• Leg cross brace: sets the depth of the brace at the top of the leg


• Material thickness: this adjusts the size of the mortars and tension joint to accommodate different material thickness

How to use this on the CIT laser cutter

1. Import the family and place in Revit view


2. Adjust the sizes of the legs and top as desired – noting you’ll need both a Type A and Type B leg


3. Adjust the material thickness to accommodate your chosen material


4. Set the scale of the view to size of the final print, ie 1:50


5. Export the view to DXF or Illustrator for adjusting line weights and printing
