sketchup vs revit

Uploaded By: shaun

Description:

not sure what i was trying to prove/find out here

but the revit drawing took me 2 hours using a very slow rendering pc :P

the sketchup was done earlier in the week, about a day it took me (i do not have the fully registered version of sketchup)

i did this to find out if i could model roof tiles etc in revit, and i now know i can :)

couldnt find any lintels to import into the drawing and instead of using 1 generic wall component i should've used two seperate walls i.e. 1 brick skin, another wall for inner blockwork?

very intuitive study.  Just curious, did you model this project specifically for the section rendering or did you use a section cut to achieve this view in revit?

hi rkitect, just for this section.   i first did it in sketchup as i like the speed and ease and freedom it provides Smile then i thought, "wait up, can i do this in revit?" and so i did Smile  obviously given more time in revit i would move the wall plate down etc.

on a 512mb ram pc any more sigle tiles would start to affect performance

a side note: any1 got any links to tutorials which show u how to detail eaves which flex with the model as the wall position changes etc

Did you model them tiles as a Sweep profile then use material to split them up.

Or was it an individual tile then array? its a nice detail. in all honesty I think both sketchup and revit have there place. In the inception stages id use sketchup for ideas etc then Revit as it has alot more function for calculations schedules etc
