Wall Section Detail

Uploaded By: rkitect

Sat, Dec 9, 2006

Description:

Here is a detail created for a project I'm working on. Feel free to ask questions and post comments!

The detail is probably close to about 30% Revit generated and 70% detail component and line work.

That would be nice if revit automatically did wall details like that...

There is some structural stuff missing such as the rebar in your concrete slab  that isnt "Called off"

and the  steel russes they are not marked or called off.

Ahh yes the joy of wall details..

All structural stell and concrete is unfortunately being covered by the "See Struct." notes.

It would be nice if Revit could auto-generate details like these, but for now, I enjoy having the control.  Seems like it would be too much of a pain to get some of these details to work right with moving this detail component 1/32" to the left to get it just right.  Being able to move just the component works well in this case.

what part of that section is revit generated? I would like to generate a wall that will allow me to insert more componates such as studs tracks, insulation, and brick ties to a wall type. Reducing the amount of detail lines required. Any info?

Revit Generated: Ceilings, Wall Profile w/ reveals, EIFS Cornice profile (integrated wall sweep), Floors and slab sweep, gutter sweep.

Detail Components: Footing Profile, Rebar, Break lines (duh), Joist Side, Metal Decking  for conc. slab, Brick sections, thru wall flashing & grout beneath, floor slab angle, wood base and shoe mould sections, insulation, metal stud, Metal Beam section, ceiling angles & support wire, roof shingle, plywood section, fake dimension line, wood blocking for cornice, beam side.

Detail Lines: Fascia board, sub fascia, roof truss (roof didn't generate very well.  Could be because my co-workers that modeled it didn't know what they were doing), ceiling support wire, wood blocking for cornice.

 Hope that answers some questions.

i think everyone finds a balance in ratio of "model" detail & drafting detail.  too much of either becomes in-efficient in my opinion.  the one thing i wish revit could do is generate batt insulation for me by designating it in the wall structure itself.

Cut Pattern in the insulation material?  I think that will work.  Just have to find a batt insulation hatch that will work well.
