i need to count number of bricks in every wall for Bill of Quantity schedules.what's the formula if there should be like 24 bricks for every square area of wall. ..i cant seem to use (*) when i use this syntax in calculate value in schedule properties of wall in revit2008.i wanted to multiply lenght or area by 24. pls help. thank you

also,i get the message "inconsistent units" everytime i use multiply (*).can u guys write me an example formula here? ...say for total cost of walls, number of hollow bricks on hte wall,paint volume ...stuff like that. ...thanks again.i'm really just a newbie with formulas & schedules =)

Here is the formula I use for Cost per Sq Ft. This is a calculated value in the schedule...

Total cost = (Material: Area/1) * Material: Cost

 

Any time you are doing a calculation you have to make sure that each of the parameter are the same Unit type. That is why I used the (Material: Area/). This converts the number into a simple Integer so I can multiply it by the Material Cost.

You could use something like this to do the Number of Bricks in a wall. You may have to play around with the formula but it should get you started.

thanks coreed & jameshgrimes. i did try all u said.m getting it bit by bit.thanks a lot.but i guess everyone's gonna appreciate it if someone out there would have the time to write template formulas =) ...thanks again!
