I am trying to create view templates for my drawings and have found that if I have a linked revit file saved in the V/G overrides it uses this same linked view for all of the views that I apply the template too.  For example, if i create the view template with the first floor as the revit link when i go to apply the view template to the second floor, the revit link for the second floor changes to the first floor view.  This would make sense because I am applying a template.  Is there anyway, besides creating different templates for the different floors, to make the proper floor be the link used while still using the same template?  I hope that this makes sense.

I figured out that I have to change the default view template instead of applying the view template to the views.  Does anyone know what the difference is and when you should use one vs. the other?

We use a standard structural plan template that is assigned to the view type.  This template has the Revit links and filters boxes unchecked.  The view template that we create when we achieve our background visibility setting defines ONLY revit links elements, in other words all boxes are unchecked except for the revit links checkbox.  So we APPLY this template and it doesn't affect our structural plan template settings.

I hope this helps.
