Here is my dilemma: I have created soffit walls and ceiling types. The only way i can make the gyp board wrap in section, elevation, and 3D is to make them the same material. I also have openings in walls where the ceiling wraps up into the wall. In order for me to get it to wrap and appear as one, I have to do 3 things: 1) Make both the ceiling and wall the same finish material 2) Set the ceiling or soffit edges 5/8" (thickness of gypsum) inward from the wall edge 3) Join the 2 objects. The problem is, that wall gypsum doesn't have a surface pattern, so I do not get a surface pattern in my reflected ceiling plan. I then gave it a pattern and tried to turn it off in elevations and plan, but could only do so for all walls - I do have some brick walls that require the surface pattern. Anyone know how to selectively hide surface pattern for a specific material in specific views? Is there a better way to do what i am doing? Thanks RAC 2008

You can right click any element in any view and "override graphics in view" to turn of the surface pattern or change the display of that element in that view only. HTH.

THANKS!! When doing that, I saw that I was able to create a filter which would select all my gypsum ceilings and give it a surface pattern for my RCP.

I seem to recall that in the visibility/graphics overrides dialog box used to contain an entry for floor surface patterns. I can no longer find it in Revit architecture 2008. Am I looking in the wrong place? And how exactly should I set floor surface patterns to not display at all, instead of overriding it?

It's still there in VG - Under floor , use the pull-down in the pattern column and un-check visible.
