One of the export options in Revit (I am using 2008 version) is that I can export a *.dwg as an ACIS solid. What exactly is an ACIS solid and how is it different from a polymesh?

ACIS solids are objects that AutoCad uses. The have volume and mass. Polymesh objects are made up of 3D FACES to represent the solid object. They do not retain volume information. When you are modeling in autocad you create solids by using tools like extrude, revolve, sweep..etc. with closed polyline profiles. If you look in the Revit help under Export Options you should find a detailed description of the two options. HTH
