Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to Revit world, been trying to figure it out for a couple of months now.  Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way of setting a particular distance for the dimension string closest to the wall; i.e., we try to keep the door and window opening dims. 48" from the outermost plane of the structure.  Is there an easy way to do this?  Also, what about the spacing between the dimension strings?  Is there a way to set that?  Any information would be extremely helpful.  Thanks in advance.

I always end up using reference planes to exactly locate dimensions.  I'd also like to know if there is an easier and less time consuming way to do it.

You can edit your window and door families to place a strong reference plan 48" away from the respective elemnts edge. You can then dimension to this point in your project.
