I am trying to place recessed lights into vaulted and flat ceilings. What's the trick?

I create the ceiling to attach the fixtures but if the ceiling is at the plate height were the roof or second floor begins they are not visible unless I lower the ceiling.

The little bastards are obviously hiding in the floor and roof cavity.

So how is this dealt with? I read a post somewhere saying they cut a hole in the floor. That's nuts!

Thanks for any help,

Doug

We have a project with changing height floor planes and cathederal ceilings. It is also a mult-floor building with an atruim space in two areas.

To gain control over the RCP views, we made multiple copies of the "Ceiling Plans" in the project directory. We cropped each of these "Ceiling Plan Sheet layouts" so that they are views of certian areas.

Each area we now have to control view range in the rcp view "view properties - view range" dialoge box. It can get a bit confusing. Also you may have to hide certian enities to control the look of the views. Some areas we uses a white fill to blank out some of the little bits of stuff that were showing up.

In one area we resorted to having a low ceiling RCP and a high ceiling RCP.

It all came out looking rather good.

No need to cut holes in the floor. :-)
