Greetings all,

I think this subject has come up once before, but I cannot find it or figure a way around this.

I have two adjacent ceiling grids and I need to demolish a small portion of one and extend the other in its place but I cannot for the life of me figure a way to do that and still make it look correct graphically.  I can create multiple grid systems and demolish the segments but the problem is the boarder of the ceiling grid make everthing look wrong.  Does anyone know of a fancy trick to do this??

create multiple grid systems...the lines shouldn't get in the way, as chances are the grid will be demolished on a grid line (not in the middle of a ceiling tile).  Example-make the existing grid (let's assume it's square).  Get the grid aligned as existing.  Then draw the ceiling being demolished (yes, you are drawing a second "existing" ceiling on top of the first).  Align the grid appropriately.  Then modify the first grid so that it no longer has the demo portion as part of it.  Then demo the second ceiling and add your new one.  If for some reason you do happen to have lines you don;t want to see, use the linework tool and change the lines to "<invisible lines>"
