I am trying to make design options for two roof conditions, one with a ptiched roof and the other a flat roof with cornices all around.  I will not let me add the cornice, which is a wall sweep to a desing option without adding the wall, but even after trying that it is giving me continual errors.  Any help would be well appreciated!

I think if you select all the walls and elements within them (i.e windows, doors, signs, etc.) and cut them from the main model (as in cut, copy, paste) then go into each of your design options and click on the edit pull down menu and then click on "Paste Aligned" and again on "Same Place" you should be able to add your cornice and roof without incedent.  Revit is looking at the procedure of adding a cornice as a change to the wall.  And you can't change anything in the main model while you are in a design option.  So you're just simply moving the walls to where they can be changed and when your client chooses the option they like you'll put them back in the main model by accepting that option as primary.

Faithfully submitted this 3rd day of December...Douglas C. Neidermier, Esq.
