using revit arc 08 I am cutting a void into the center of a base cabinet, is there a way I can see this void as a dashed line in elevation? (I do not see it al all right now unless im in wireframe)

You can but symbolic lines in elevation view to represent the void.

I suppose I should be more specific. The void I am creating is a family, i would like the dashed lines to show up automatically so that i do not have to draw them every time i place or move the family thanks

That is what I am talking about. In a family you have a tool called Symbolic Lines. These lines will show in every view parallel to the view it was created in. When you draw the lines in an elevation view in the family, they will show up in elevation view in the project.
