Ok, I've been messing with this one for awhile now.  I am trying to add hidden symbolic lines to my cabinets to resemble shelves inside the casework.  I have set up reference planes to lock to the sides of the cabinet.  Then I set up my symbolic lines and locked the ends to the Ref planes.  Then I use Array and specify how many I want to add.  I lock the top symbolic line to the bottom of the cabinet (just to hide it) and same with the top line.  Then in the parameters I have one titled: "Number of Shelves" (instance integer), and another one titled "##" (instance integer).  The ## is the number of symbolic lines including the two that are locked to the top and bottom.  The other one is set to = ## - 2.  This gives the user the ability to type the number of shelves in without needing to worry about the two hidden lines.  This works great and I can add 100 shelves or 3 and it adjusts when the Height is changed.  But when I change the width, the shelves  don't follow.  I can't figure out why.  Because the reference planes are locked to the width.  Before I array my lines and they becomed grouped items, I can change the width and it works fine.  But without the grouped array I can't use the integer parameter to allow users to change the number of shelves.

So does anyone know what I am doing wrong?  I have tried all ideas from crontroling the shelf width (which doesn't work either) to playing with the interger parameters.  Please help!

 Thanks in advance,

Lorne

I need to resurface this...still haven't figure out how to accomplish this.  I just basically need to know how to Array lines as a group and set a family parameter to edit the number of lines it shows.  Then lock the ends of the lines to an object.  If the object changes width the lines follow.  I can't get it to work.  Thanks.

Try this one,

Create a family containing only one symbolic line, with width parameter. And nested it to your main family, and link the component width with the main family width,

I attached my small experiment, and it looks correct.

Best regards,

Arthur Gunawan
