Should I use a wall sweep to add vertical batten details to a wall? I am trying to create some craftsman-style detailing to the top of a gable wall. Thanks! -Donna

You could do it that way but the ends of each batton would be square and probably would not clean up with any diagonal trim.   I've found sweeps to be hard to work with in some instances.  A few are ok but you will have many.

An in place family that does all of your trim / battens would be easier.  Just do it all at once as one extrusion.

I would look to the curtain wall tool and place a separate curtain wall in front of your exterior wall.  I would define the curtain wall to have mullions the size of your battens and replace all the panels with 'empty' panels.

The curtain wall might work for craftsman style, but maybe not for trimwork with pieces that are off the orthoganal grid in the middle of the system...or have they fixed that? I haven't checked lately, but I hope so, I really didn't enjoy building a storefront out of 13 little pieces.
