in my building sections the walls are coming up soild gray. stem wall and footing is solid gray as well. there is no hatch pattern for cmu and footing. its is hard to see my detail components through the gray background in sections. any thing that i can do to get the visibility right. elevations work fine but not the sections. i attached an example

You can't see the details because you are in "corse" mode, in left botton, just in the right units click and choose "fine".

Thanks typhoon, tried it but it still shows up the same there was actually no change. i fiddled with those settings but still cant get it right. any other suggestions?

change the fill style for the walls in the wall properties?

what scale are you viewing the section at?

Have you checked your view settings for phase and phase filter?  Items created earlier than the current phase by default show up grey.
