In my Views under Floor Plans, I created a Foundation Plan view. I used a Concrete Foundation wall to support the slab since the building is on a slab foundation. I also placed footings under the foundation wall. In the view, The foundation wall and footings are appearing as continuous solid lines. I need them to show up as hidden lines to produce the accurate construction documents. How do I change the appearance of the Foundation-Concrete walls and the footings to show as hidden lines?

You can go to the plan view, view properties>visibility and under Structural foundations (model tab) override the displayed line type.

I was not successful in changing the line type using this message. The lines are still appearing as solid lines. Please advise on any other suggestions.

I couldn't get this to work either. Isn't there an easier way to do it rather than using the linework tool to change the linetype?

Go to Settings in the pull down menu Select Line Styles In the Line Styles dialogue box, find the category that says <Beyond> In the Line Pattern column on the <Beyond> row, change the line style to Hidden 1/8" What this should do is anything below (beyond) the 0' 0" elevation level should be represented with a Hidden line type/style Let me know if this works.

Thank-you. Yes, this works. I saw this method described in another thread that Mr. Spot responded to but was worried about this <beyond> linetype now being the new dashed type globally in the project. This is easy to do but hope I don't pay for it later! Thanks again!

Thanks rcobbjr! I was having the exact same problem and this fixed it for me as well. A couple questions though, will this change the default settings for Revit to use the hidden linetype for anything below or will it simply be a global change per project? How could I go about changing the default settings for Revit to do this if I needed to?
