I have a detail at a building expansion joint, i've placed a masked region where i want to place an expansion material, but i can't get the material to be placed on top of the region. There is no level control. Can anyone help? Thanks. RAC 2008

Select the masked region and click the button on the options bar that is all the way on the right (send backward) and that should allow the other stuff to be on top.

Have you tried making the masking region as part of the detail family. This should allow the region to mask any elements but still show your detailing.

What kind of family is it that you are trying to import?  You amy want to look at the section entitled, "Creating a Model Family with Masking Regions from 2D DWG Files" in the help file, expanding on what JAMESHGRIMES said.

Also, I know it is not what you asked, but did you consider using the Edit Cut Profile tool instead of a masking region?
