Using 2008. I have tried to edit my room tag family to get rid of or modify the stupid box around the room number. I am probably overlooking something simple but I don't find where that box is created. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I've tried to do the same thing with no luck but I am a newbie so lets hope someone that knows more will chime in

I just recently came across this issue. The box is not visible in the family that installs with Revit. To turn it on in the family editor go to Visibility/Graphics-->Annotation tab and checkmark "Show annotations in view" and turn all categories on. The box lines will become visible in the family.
