How do you get the ceiling patterns to show up? I am useing the default GYB ceiling and no pattern show up.

Can you actually link CAD files so that they update? If so how?

How do you add insulation into walls when it occupies the same space as the stud?

Is there a way to get interior elevation, door and room tags to talk to one another. I would like to label a room and use the room number-A, B etc to label the doors; have the interior elevation tag read 1, 2, 3, 4, with the sheet number in the center in the plan view, but have the actual view named by room (i.e. room tage = Office - 101; door tage = 101A; interior elevation tag = A1.10 (in circle) and 1, 2, 3, 4 for the arrows.

On a side note our company standard is actually to note each elevation as N, E, S, W and then call out the sheet and location in the buble. Is this doable without to much trouble?

Can you place a line type instead of a hatch pattern in walls, as part of the wall family?

And I'm sure many more...

Q: How do you get the ceiling patterns to show up? I am useing the default GYB ceiling and no pattern show up.

A: This is controlled by the surface pattern you have assigned to the material used in the GWB ceiling type.  Go the the properties of the ceiling and check on material assigned and patterns assigned.

Q:Can you actually link CAD files so that they update? If so how?

A: Yes, be sure to check the 'link' box in the File>Import/Link.  Linked files act like xrefs and will update when you re-open the project.  During an active editing session of Revit you can go to File>Manage Link as do a reload which is like an xref refresh.  Revit will not tell you though when your CAD file needs reloading.

Q:How do you add insulation into walls when it occupies the same space as the stud?

A: The insulation is best added as a 2D detail embellishment in section.  Their is an insulation tool in the Drafting tab menu for this purpose.

Q:Is there a way to get interior elevation, door and room tags to talk to one another.

A: Short answer in no.  Intermediate answer is Door Number and Room Numbers can be manually coordinated via a door schedule that shows To and From Rooms.  Long answer is you can write a program via the API to possibly accomplish this task.

Q: On a side note our company standard is actually to note each elevation as N, E, S, W and then call out the sheet and location in the buble. Is this doable without to much trouble?

A:  Can you just place the direction in the title of the view?

Q:Can you place a line type instead of a hatch pattern in walls, as part of the wall family?

A: No.  Walls will only accept fill patterns.  Keep in mind that walls have a 'course fill' property and this can be used.
