Hello, I've been on this forum for some time but I've never posted before so hello everyone, appreciate all the help over the last year whether you knew you were giving it or not!

Here's the question, seen it asked on here but can't find an answer...How do I copy an entire project from one file to another. I have a new template file and would like to move an older unfinished project over so that I have everything including all views and section cuts etc. Oh yeah this will also be a move from 9.1 to 2008. Any Ideas are welcome, Thanks

jimij, I am trying to find out if you can bind linked revit models in 2008.  Maybe you could try to link the old model into the template and see if you can bind them.  Worth a try and it might help us both out.  Smile  The only other thing I can think of would be to copy and paste the elements but you wouldn't get all the details and views all ready set up in the old model.

I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it will work.  What you can try is:  Upgrade your project to 2008.  Open up your new template file and your project in the same window, so you can go to the window tab and switch from project to project.  You might be able to go into your template file and in the browser you can copy stuff over from the template file into your project.  You will not be using your template file for the project, just stealing stuff from it.  You probably wont be able to copy views over, but you should be able to copy over families and schedules and stuff like that.  Let me know if this works for you.  Good luck!

Hey thanks for the responses, I think the .doc file sounds like it has the best aproach, link in the old model then bind it (new in 200Shadey I'm going to try it, it may not be perfect but if it gets me close I'm happy, thanks again everyone!

Seeing that you have the new model, what I had to do was just create the same views again in the new project.

I know it sounds redundant but I was able to save alot of time by not having to redo everthing.

That's what I thought but I was hoping someone had found a better way.

Thanks
