I am looking for information about how firms with more than one office in different locations using revit manage the central file.  Do you have a server or certain location you keep the central file so that all offices can access and update the central file?

I used it a few years ago and it didn't work quite well for us.

we used VPN. I know things have changed a bit since, so it could be better now. if you can access the other office server (you must be already using VPN) the thing to remember is that you will need to save regulary and small chuncks at a time, saving large amounts can take long, you also might run into problems with permissions, again could be a lengthy process.

from memory, we ended up with a file being uploaded to the FTP with all the changes, we changed the user I.D to the user that uploaded the file, open and save to central...

anyone else wants to add?
