I used to use ArchiCAD at my old job.  Now I'm in Revit and when trying to create a massing, drawing lines or using filled region I am usually tracing something and just want to say 'Fill' a wall in elevation.  In ArchiCAD I could hold the space bar down and click in the middle and it used a magic wand tool to find the area of the tool I'm using.  Is there a way to do this in Revit?  Thanks,Lorne

i know this is two years to late, but try using the tab key.  You can tap it 3 times real quick to select all conecting edges of a poly line or any connected elements like walls or cad import.

Thanks Hence,

Yea when I got the reminder email I didn't even remember this and I can obviously answer my own question now by using the tab key.

Thanks for posting, better late than never!

Hey, this is a bit off topic, but since you used Archicad (I assume you know it pretty well) when you create your custom hatch pattern, is there a way to export it into a .pat file so I can use it in Revit?

Thanks for your help =)

The only thing i could think of would be to export a dwg file from ArchiCAD and use that for your .pat file from autocad.  I don't remember exactly how converte it after it is in autocad but i know there are post on this site that give good instruction on how to  it.

 PS.

Coming from ArchiCAD and now using Revit, which do you like more?

Well I haven't used ArchiCAD for years, so I am rusty with it now, the last one I worked on was a few versions back.

But to answer your question, I like Revit better.  Seems to work smoother, obviously there's some minor things I miss from ArchiCAD but overall, Revit has been a better learning experience and user experience.
