Hi folks,

After years of tweaking lines in AutoCAD I have discovered Revit and the direction I want to go with my work. Presently, I am teaching myself Revit Architecture 2008 by using a couple of good tutorials. What a pleasure.

So, here is the advice I hope someone can give me. Besides the jobs posted on this site where would I go to find other openings for revit operators? My wife and I are considering a move to Boise, ID next spring but so far I haven't found any revit user's groups there and don't know how to identify the companies that are using revit or planning to move to revit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In an area like Boise there may not be a lot of firms using Revit.  Work this to your advantage by learning Revit then targeting firms you would like to work for and create your own position as the Revit guru.  Many firms are waiting for just such a person to come along, but you have to do the age old advice of 'networking' to find these opportunities.  The best job you can ever get is one that has never been advertised.

Thanks Tom, very good advice. I didn't really think that someone considered a newcomer to Revit (by experienced Revit users like you) would look like a guru to a company with no Revit talent. I will take your suggestions to heart.

Oh, I like your blog. Good information that i will check on frequently.
