I have split face a number of walls and painted different materials. For example, instead of adding trim pieces to the corners of a wall and along the base I've just split the face and painted another material. Basically just getting it to look right in elevations. Now, the problem is that randomly, it seems, the walls forget what material they are supposed to be. I'm not sure what is causing this. And it's difficult to explain because I don't know when it happens. I'll fix it, start working on something completely different in a different view, and then at some point i'll open up the elevation or 3d view and notice that the materials are all wrong again. Any thoughts or someone else been having this issue?

i've got the same problem and i don't know what goes wrong. for example, i painted a bathroom wall with a material with a tile pattern and later on after only creating a new pattern within the material editor (not related to the painted one), the painted material on my bathroom wall disappears. anybody any ideas?

I believe I posted this to the AUGI fourm as well and the respones that I got back were to not use split face as there is still a bug in it. They also suggested sending the issue in as a technical/support request so they know it's an issue. That being said, if you just painted a wall with another material and didn't use the split face command, I would suggest just making a new wall type.

I am having a slightly different problem, in not being able to select the split face lines on a wall. I can add more, I can make them invisible, and paint the individual areas that are created, but I cannot select them to remove them. I got into this situation because I had a workset that was not editable as my current workset, and created them without realizing what I was doing. Revit kept telling me that none of the linework was visible in the view, but it did not clue me into the fact that the workset was Open, but not Editable. Even after I made the workset editable, I still cannot edit the linework. I am going to install SP3 to see if this helps me in any way.

I installed the service pack (SP3) and found no difference in the operation of these things. What did work was copying to a new project the one wall with which I was having a problem. Once it was there, I was able to edit the split face, remove the lines I did not want, and copy it back into my main model. Somehow, earlier, Revit got into a state where it would NOT "Quit Sketch". I could not save anything, couldn't quit, so I had to add valid lines (in the Split Face mode) and finish the sketch. These were the lines I could not select to edit.

I am having this problem now, in Architecture 09 - very frustrating after I've taken the time to make everything exactly the way I want it. Has anyone figured out a solution yet?
