I'm a commercial interior designer learning Revit.  Does anybody know the origin of the word Revit?

Secondly, how save something from 2008 to Revit 9?  Much of the furniture provided here has been

created in a later version of Revit than the one I'm using, Revit 9.  I have a trial version of 2008 but still see no way to save down to older version.      Help?

I have heard that the name is derived from the combined term "Revise It" but i am not sure. As for saving in a older format it is not possible at this time. Not sure why. You can go forward just not backward.

Revise It I believe is correct. The save backwards thing is one of the things that bug the hell out of me in Revit. They say that every release they update the software so that the added items in the new release aren't there in the old release, thus not making it possible to be compatible at all. 2008 came out with points which was new. revit 9 won't be able to figure out what the heck it's talking about, so they don't make it backwards compatible.

Add my 2 cents on this thread.

Revit (Rev_It) comes from Revise Instantly and is built for managing change, something that we have to do in our practice ALL the time.
