Hello, Im a new user of revit, and I have some questions concerning Revit Architecture 2008 and NavisWorks (jetstream v5). I have the plugin in Revit to make the nwc out of the model, but there are some proplems. I cant get it in the right coordinates for NavisWorks. Does someone have any ideas what Im doing wrong? To export into dwg or ifc you can choose the shared coordinates, but in this external tool for Navis I cant find it. If I use the ifc made of this model in Navis, it will be in the right coordinates, but then I loose a lot of information. I would prefer usind directly the nwc of this model.

Did you or anyone else find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem, I thought the setting the Project Position and orientation would do the trick but no. We have Structural models produced in Revit Structure by the structural engineer and we want them issued as NavisWorks Nwc files coordinated to the site grid. Any help appreciated! Regards, Björn

Hi Björn, Well, ifc and nwc arent still working in the shared coordinates and I have been in contact with autodesc. The problem with the nwc external tool is not solved with the newest version NawisWorks 2009, and I dont have the 2009 Revit to check the ifc. (They promised it would be solved but I doubt that.) Anyway, I am now exporting the project into dwg and then I merge it once into Navis. The layers stay good (you can load layer settings), and the information of the model as good as it can. Some information like transparence and colors are lost (and not talking about the materials... but that would be a miracle anyway!). But once you change them they (should stay. This way the coordinates stay as they should. Our biggest problem at the moment is the ifc, because it should be a standart in all the projects in Finland. Its still just not working right. The coordinates are missing, the information as well (blocks are created that you cant change) and so on, so on. So we still work with dwg to export the model to Navis. I hope I could help you a bit. Good luck. Nina

Thank you for the tips! We prefer to use the nwc export out from Revit since that maintains most intelligence for component (family) properties. As long as the nwc export is performes from the same 3D view in Revit it will come in at the same but still wrong location in Navis. But we only need to transform the model in Navis to be coordinated with the rest of the project. As long as we overwrite the old nwc file with a new one with the same file name Navis will remeber the translation data and it's sits where it should. So we will stick with the nwc export from Revit and move the models within Navis for now. Regards, Bjorn
