Is there an application that allows the user to view Revit files without having the actual Revit Architecture 2008 application on their computer?  For example, someone sends me a Revit file, i then want to view the model without opening it in Revit, and i only have the Revit file, i do no have the ability to convert to any other file extensions either.  So i guess an ideal application would be a Revit Viewer, that would be if it existed of course???  I do not want to edit the model, simply just view it in another application, or view different sheets maybe that are contained within the Revit file i have

Regards

Dave

The easiest solution would be to install Revit on the computer in question and leave it in demo mode. It will allow the user to manipulate the drawing, but you would be unable to save any changes. This way the user can’t accidentally alter the drawing. The only other drawback is that you are not able to print from Revit in the demo mode.

Hope this Helps

Matt

That's not quite true matthewb, in demo mode you can print and export to dwf and cad formats at long as you do not change anything. So, if you just open the model you can still do whatever you want, untill you edit anything. Another option would be to download Design Review from Autodesk. It is free, and will allow you to mark up dwf's. Revit lets you export 2D and 3D dwf's, and they are a lot smaller than revit files.
