One of the building companies I draft for use Simplex & Roman text. They have asked me to make the text darker/thicker so it is not as faint when they print it out. I know revit does not have line weights for text but I was hoping someone may know which text would look simplier but print thicker as they have used this text style for yaers and don't want to changed. I was hoping to avoid using bold to thicken the text. Hope that made sense.

We had the same problem using iso. You just have to hunt around for an acceptable font. We use ISOCPEUR which has a thickness associated with it. Unfortunately Revit has a few problems when trying to make an office style (as you would know), arrowheads, elevation marks etc.
