Hey, well i have a question that is stumping me... i know that revit 2008 has a library of great trees but when you look at them in elevation or 3D with out rendering they just look like a mess of lines...

I was wondering is there a way to show like a nice tree image in the elevation view, sort of like an image, but we find you always have the box around it (unless you cut it)...i guess i just need a nice solution so my other co workers can just drag and drop them in so we can show there are bushes and trees around with out rendering.

I hope i hear back soon.

Yes, import any dwg of a tree you have into the elevation view of the tree families and delete all those nasty lines.  Import the dwg into both side and front elevations, then pick on each and turn the visibilty off in the perpendicular views.  Note if you do this in a sep. plant family, then nest it into a host plant family the dwg will scale when you change the size of the plant.

Hmm ya i found that way, but my boss wants more of a realistic tree rather than a Dwg...

I did figure out if i create png of one of our tree images from Max library, and use the alpha map in photoshop to get rid of the non tree parts, I can import into revit a png with transparancy and then just bring it to forground, and it works great for elevations...it allows a semi or realistic tree be imported for elevation and you see the building through the parts you should.

I would like to hear comments on this way of doing it see what you think.
