Revit 2008

After the designer had a heck of a time constructing this front entry desk that is elliptical in shape i now have the duty of dimensioning. The designer really disliked the process of modifying the ellipses which took a significant amount of time. Ellipses do not act or behave anything like arcs and i had to here all the complaints

Now when I go to dimesion the dimension tool does not work on an ellipse. In my plan I had to place arcs on the major an minor axises in order to place dimensions.

Is there anything i am doing wrong or is this just the way I have to do it?

See attached files for a 3d image and detail plan.

Ellipses only have 2 dimensions. the 1/2 the widht and 1/2 the length.  So i'm not sure the issue. but for what you are making I recommend 4 arcs as thats how you can get it constructed.

The issue is I am unable to dimension anything that is an ellipse. If I have a tool to make an ellipse then give me a complete tool where I do not have to "duplicate an effort". The other program we worked with did not have this problem. I could dimension the major and minor axis without dupicating what was all ready drawn. I find duplicating work a waste of my time.
