Does anyone know a good way to convert a revit group into a family? I have created a nice group of masses, but cannot use them in my project since they are not visible to print.

You can print masses, you just have to have them turned on in two places...visibilty graphics, and "Show Masses" button next to the 3D button.

Not sure about masses but I was able to past my 2D detail Groups into a new Detail Component family to make for easy future use of the same detail.  Perhaps start a new family with the category and types set up for whatever your modeling and try to paste in.

hank, what you mentioned last is a good idea.  What we have done is created project families with drafting details as individual details.  This way, say for general notes or door/window details, all you have to do is go to insert, view from file, and select that file.  It will open a list of detail views from that file and you just check the ones you want to bring in.

What if you have a group that is made up of detail components and you want to make it a single nested detail component?

Not sure what you are asking.  Has nothing to do with groups.

You can create a detail family with other detail families nested inside it.
