I am looking for suggestion an how others have setup sheet/files in the CD phase for details.

The main concern is keeping the the central files at a managable size. We have a 825,000 sqft hospital project. It is divided up into 3 central files. One for the Shell and core elements and two file for interior architectural elemants. The one interior element file is for floors 0-3. the second is for floors 4 -11. Floors 4 -11 are a tower that sits ontop of floors 0-3 which has a larger foot print. We are at the begining of the CD phase. Currently each of the three central files average 225 megs. The shell and core is linked into each of the interior architectural central files. This link does slow down the performance of the 2 interionr architectural elemant central files.

How are others dealing with detail sheet/files setup in the CD Phase with this size of project.

I would work in one model using worksets to break up the model, then selective open to open only what you need to work on. Linking models is not really designed for the way you are using them, except for in 2008 you can bind them so The approach some are taking is to have your models bound as groups in your project, then you can work on the sep rvt, load it as a group, then swap it out. we are using this method for typical hotel rooms.

We were not wanting to break the model up however we needed to for a variety of reasons, team size, file size, STC issues, Revit processing issues. We worked with autodesk revit on best practices for breaking up of the model. Combining the three files at this point will make a 550 mg file. We will look into binding the modes as groups and making a separate rvt file. I am assuming the idea of having the separate models in as bound groups iis ,we would the creat our details and detail call out in this file. Yes?
