Currently, you can only set the lineweight for all objects created in a certain phase as a whole (Existing for example).  This can be problematic when displaying different types of objects; for example, existing fill patterns vs. wall objects.  It would be nice to have different lineweight controls for different objects for each of the phases.

I definately agree!  It is a real stumbling block to making working drawings in Revit.  It does not help to have to explain to a contractor on a renovation project why the lineweights do not match up when they are filling a wall to "match existing."  Great suggestion!

This is an older post but came across it searching for this same issue.  Does anyone know if this has been changed or added as a feature in versions 2012 or earlier?

If it hasn't been addressed, I suppose the only alternative is to override the settings for each object in the view...right?

I do not think it means what you think it means... if you go to manage phases, and the phase overrides tab, you then select cut lines, leave the lineweight alone (NO OVERRIDE).  You can apply a color AND a pattern, without actually changing the lineweight...

What I think you are wishing for, is the ability to scale back the lineweights, because using the above would result in demolished objects appearing the same as existing, except with a different line type.

Anyway, what danpecor was asking for can be accomplished, just don't override the lineweight and then your lineweights will be determined by the object styles or graphic overrides for that view...
