How do I get a pat file for a standing seam roof loaded into my project and make it appear on my roof in a perspective?

If you alread have a .pat file you can: Go to Settings-->Fill Patterns Click the Model radio button at the bottom of the dialog Click New-->Custom-->Import Browse to the .pat file and open. You may have to enter a scale to get the correct spacing. After you have created the fill pattern you will need to apply that pattern as a surface pattern in your roof material. It should then show up in all views (3d and 2d) where the roof is shown.

Thanks for your input. I did all you said but cannot get any pattern to appear on my roof. I have tried many of the pat model files but nothing shows up in elevation, 3D or rendered perspective. I can get a surface pattern from the drafing file to work but not a model pat.

That is strange. The only other thing I can think of is to check the visibility/graphics dialog and see if surface patterns are turned off for roofs.

There must be something wrong with my pat file. I have figured out how to get the surface pattern to work for the drafting type and most of the model typed but not the standing seam. I changed the scale to as large as it would go and if I zoom way in on it I can see the pattern. Got any ideas where to get a better standing seam file?

Try this one that I made. It is a simple pattern but it works.

Thanks, that works great, except in a rendered perspective. How do I get it to do that trick?

You will have to come up with a material image that has the lines on it. When rendering the material image takes over.
