how do i create a monolithic floor slab with a thickened edge. the floor slab edge sweeps ends up with two different 'pieces' responses appreciated

you are not specific enough - a 3d screen shot could really help. see that you are not choosing to sweep alon the top edge of the slab on one side and the bottom edge on the other...hth

Did you try to join the floor sweep with the floor slab?

I had the same problem using a 6" concrete "slab" for the floor. I replaced the "slav" with a generic 4" concrete floor and the floor slab edge sweep joined to the floor without a problem.
