i downloaded some components from this site. one of them appeared white in shading style view. when i rendered it, it had materials that i didnt like. i changed the material defenition under view>visibility\graphics, and now the component appeares to be in the right colors - in shading style view, but when i render it, it shows the old material.

what should i do?

tnx 4 any help!

Look at you material's property table, there is more than one item to be set here.  The first (shading) is the generic color of the material when shown shaded.  Within this selection is a box that either fixes this color to what you select or, when checked, locks the material color to the next setting (AccuRender) that sets the color & texture for renderings.  The color for shading can be different then the rendering or approximately the same depending on this checked box.

Sounds like you want the color you set for shading, unchecked the box but did not change the rendering texture/color.

i dont care how the component looks when its shaded.

my problem is when i render. how do i change the material defenitions so it affect not only the shaded view (which i dont need) but also when i render...?

i mean, i changed the material definitions as i said above, but it doesnt affect the render!

(sorry if i seem not to understand your explanations, im from israel... we dont have revit forums here in hebrew yet...)

tnx alot!

Did you change the material definitions in the family or in your project?  The project settings over-ride the family settings.

Also, do you have your library pathed correctly so AccuRender can find it?

i changed them b opening the family for editing. i changed the definition under view menu->visibility/graphics.

i loaded the component back to the file im working on, overwriting the existing.

then i changed material definitions under settings menu->materials

currently, in shaded view the component has colors (it used to be white), and when i render it, one of the materials (out of 2) is okay but the other one still has the old color which i wanted to change

i guess i missed one of the materials definition in settings menu. i have a huge list of materials being used there (in the material name list, not the material library), so im having hard time to find the right name.

by the way' what do you think of the image i loaded? its the second model im creating in revit

Looks like your getting the hang of it.

Comments

    - It looks like your windows may need some work yet.

    - You may want to put a studio light some where behind the camera

Looks like you may have some families (like the chandelier) in here that would be nice to share with others on this site.  Can you do that?
