Another question.  Were trying to figure out how to actually use the callout tool.  We need to call out certain details on a 3d floor plan, but we want to be able to use a 2d line drawing (elevation or plan view) that actually shows more detail. Is there a way to callout a portion of a three dimensional floor plan, but not necessarally use the 3d one, but instead a 2d line drawing from say autocad?

If you have a standard detail or something that you have already made like an autocad one that you have imported you can reference the callout to that detail view.  Also if you want to start from scratch you can make a detail view and reference it or make the call out and then just hide all the 3D objects with visibility graphics.

thats great!  thanks for the help!  how would you go about referencing the callout to a specific 2d detailed view?  everytime we try to edit the callout bubble, it won't let us.

Thats one of the things I hate...you cant reference a view after you made the call out or change what it is referencing....SO ANNOYING.  When you click on "Callout"  there is a check box on the Properties tool bar that you can check, then next to that is a box you can scroll through and select the view that you want to reference.  Normaly the Properties toolbar is under the toolbar with "Alighn" "Split" and such...the properties toolbar also is what has the button to go to the elements properties.
